Grange and West Lakes sit just up the coast from our base in Glenelg. Both suburbs bring together older beachside homes, solid post-war brick houses and newer builds around the lake, and no two bathrooms start from the same place.

That’s why we don’t arrive with a template. We start with the home, how you use the room and what isn’t working, then design a bathroom that suits the house and the people living in it.

With over 17 years of hands-on renovation experience, we manage the whole job: design, selections, every trade and the finishing details. That way you’re not left coordinating it yourself.

Recent projects in Grange and West Lakes

Grange: a bedroom turned into a light-filled ensuite

This Grange family didn’t have an ensuite, but they had a bedroom they could give up. We turned it into a full ensuite, so the layout started from a clean slate rather than working around an old bathroom.

  • Walk-in shower: a frameless glass shower, kept open and easy to clean.
  • Freestanding bath: placed to give the room a calm focal point.
  • Wall-hung basin vanity: keeps the floor visible, so the room feels larger.
  • Tiling: large grey wall tiles balanced by a patterned feature tile that runs across the floor and up the half wall.
  • Tapware: brushed nickel/brass-look, adding warmth against the grey.

The work behind it: we checked the existing sewer line by camera first to confirm the ensuite could be built properly. Then we cut a new doorway from the master bedroom, removed a nib wall, and ran new underground plumbing and hot and cold feeds. New concrete went in, followed by a screeded floor with correct falls, two coats of waterproofing membrane and a 10mm radius frameless shower screen. Tinted film on the window gives the room privacy.

Project duration: 5–6 weeks.

West Lakes: a matching bathroom and laundry

In West Lakes we renovated the bathroom and laundry together, so the two rooms feel like they belong to the same home.

In the bathroom:

  • Tiles: terracotta-tone square feature tiles bring warmth and texture.
  • Vanity: a walnut-look floating vanity with an oval vessel basin and a pill-shaped mirror cabinet above it for hidden storage.
  • Bath: an inset bath.
  • Shower: a walk-in shower with a rail shower and a built-in niche, so bottles stay off the floor.
  • Fittings: brushed brass-look throughout.

The laundry picks up the same palette:

  • Stacked washer and dryer to save floor space.
  • Walnut-look upper cabinets.
  • A hanging rail for drip-drying.
  • A generous sink with the same terracotta-tone splashback.

The work behind it: walls came out and the layout was redesigned. We relocated the underfloor plumbing and hot and cold feeds, built a new stud wall, bath wall and nib wall, filled in an internal window, and poured new concrete. Every wet area was screeded to the correct falls and given two coats of waterproofing before tiling, with tile-insert drains. The laundry was re-plumbed and rewired, screeded, waterproofed and tiled to match, and a new custom aluminium window was fitted.

Project duration: 5–6 weeks.

Renovating near the coast and the lake

Homes close to the beach and the lake need bathrooms that cope with humidity and heavy everyday use. We plan these details from the start:

  • Ventilation and moisture: proper extraction and moisture management, so finishes keep looking good.
  • Waterproofing: done carefully and fully. It’s the part you never see, and the part that matters most.
  • Hard-wearing finishes: surfaces and fittings chosen to suit a coastal home and to be easy to live with.
  • The house first: a character home in Grange, a brick home in Seaton and a newer build on the lake each call for a different approach.

Coastal doesn’t have to mean “coastal themed”. Our West Lakes project shows how warm natural tones can feel relaxed without leaning on clichés.

What’s included in a complete bathroom renovation

The final investment depends on your existing room, any layout changes and the finishes you choose. A complete renovation typically covers:

  • Design, layout and selections guidance
  • Demolition and preparation
  • Waterproofing
  • Plumbing and electrical coordination
  • Tiling
  • Vanity, shower, bath, tapware and fit-off
  • Final clean and handover

We’ll talk budget early, so the bathroom you want and the budget you have stay aligned from day one.
